Terms and conditions


Orders may be placed by telephone, postal or electronic mail, and are treated in strict chronological order, regardless of the method used.

Orders from new customers are despatched after payment, and we aim to send orders within 48 hours of settlement.

We accept VISA and Mastercard (by telephone and on our website), cheques in euros payable on a French based bank, and bank transfers to the following account:

Conditions of sale conform to the ILAB (International League of Antiquarian booksellers) and SLAM (Syndicat de la Librairie Ancienne et Moderne) standards. All books offered for sale are carefully described and in a very good general condition unless otherwise stated. Presence of ex-libris or names of previous owners are not necessarily mentioned. In case of error or omission on our part, the books may be returned after prior notification within 14 days, provided they are suitably wrapped and insured.

Property rights

Librairie des Carrés is the owner of the intellectual property rights and holds the right of use to all accessible parts of the site, especially texts, images, and graphics.

All reproduction, representation, modification, publication, adaptation, in whole or in part of the elements comprising the site, regardless of the process used, is forbidden without prior written authorization of Librairie des Carrés.

Unauthorised exploitation of the website, in whole or in part, will be considered as constituting a counterfeit and will be prosecuted according to articles L.335-2 and following of the Intellectual Property Code.

Use of personal data

In France, personal data is protected by law n°78-87 of 6th January 1978, law n°2004-801 of 6th August 2004, article L.226-13 of the Penal Code and the European directive of 24th October 1995.

All personal data of the site user will be kept strictly confidential, and not transferred, given or sold, in whatever form, to a third party.
